THEFT

On April 17, 2022 the St. Thomas Police took a report of a theft from an RV. The RV was unlocked at a local business for repair when unknown person (s) entered it and stole a small barbeque and a walking stick. If you have any information about this please contact the St. Thomas Police. *5569

WARRANT

On April 17, 2022 a 37 year old male was arrested by the OPP on a St. Thomas Police warrant for uttering threats x2. The male was transported to the St. Thomas Police station where he was processed and released with a future court date.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

On April 17, 2022 the St. Thomas Police were called downtown regarding an assault. Investigation revealed that a citizen had been driving their car when a male threw rocks at it. The citizen pulled over to observe the damage when the male approached and swung a stick at the citizen. The citizen was struck on the head causing a serious wound. Police attended and arrested the 36 year old male. Investigation lead to the following charges: aggravated assault, uttering threats, mischief, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, fail to comply with a release order and fail to comply with a probation order. The accused was held for morning court.

WARRANT

On April 17, 2022 a 35 year old female was arrested by the London Police on a St. Thomas Police warrant for fail to comply with release order. She was held for morning court.

IMPAIRED DRIVERS

On April 17, 2022 the St. Thomas Police were contacted by an alert citizen reporting a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle in question and spoke to the driver who admitted to consuming some alcohol. The driver was tested at the roadside with an approved screening device. The driver failed that test and was transported to the St. Thomas Police station for further testing. It was determined that the driver had almost double the legal limit of alcohol in his system. The 39 year old male was subsequently charged with operation while impaired-over 80. He was released with a future court date.

On April 18, 2022 in the early morning hours the St. Thomas Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the south end of the city. The officer suspected the driver of the vehicle was under the influence of drugs. The officer performed tests at the roadside which led to the arrest of the driver. The driver was taken to the St. Thomas Police station for further testing by a drug recognition evaluator. It was determined that the driver in fact was impaired by drug. The 49 year old male was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a prohibited weapons. He was processed and later released with a future court date.
