I had the pleasure of attending the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum 2023 in the Cooperative Republic of Guyana this week. Saint Lucia remains committed to fostering cultural and educational exchanges, aiming to bridge our heritage and histories, while building solid partnerships between our educational institutions for knowledge transfer and research.
We have made some strides in deepening our engagement with the African continent. African Export-Import Bank has played a pivotal role in facilitating trade and investment flows between Africa and the Caribbean, offering the financial instruments and support needed to bring our business communities closer together.
We have also entered into a Facility Agreement deal with the Afreximbank valued at USD 6 million. The funds will be used to further renovate school facilities across the island, particularly those affected by Tropical Storm Bret.
The journey ahead is filled with opportunity and potential. The connections we forge, the partnerships we build, and the initiatives we undertake today will pave the way for a future of prosperity and collaboration between Africa and the Caribbean.
