MAJOR CONTRIBUTION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF HEALTHCARE IN THE SISTER ISLES

Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government

Hillsborough, Carriacou, March 25th, 2023 – The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government is the recipient of US$100,000.00. This is from the Ministry of Health as part of an overall contribution from the Chinese Embassy that donated a total of US$200,000.00, under their Community Partnership Initiative, last December.

Senator the Hon. Jonathan LaCrette, Minister for Health, Wellness and Community Development, presented a cheque for the US$100,000.00 to his colleague Minister Hon. Tevin Andrews, during an official handing over ceremony for the Princess Royal Smart Hospital.

Minister LaCrette noted that with health being one of Government’s top priorities under its transformational agenda, they thought it imperative to give half of the Chinese Embassy’s contribution to Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

In accepting the donation Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Tevin Andrews, said part of the contribution will be used for the purchasing of the much-needed dental health chairs.

The donation of half of what was received by the Ministry of Health is a clear demonstration of Government’s commitment to developing the healthcare sector on the sister isles, Minister Andrews said.
